In the morning of May 27, 2017, the Launching Ceremony of 2017 Food Safety Awareness Week ＆ Exhibition of Food and Drug Safety was held in GDSC. The Awareness Week has been hosted by 21 departments, including Guangdong Food Safety Office with the theme of “Upholding Ethics and Abiding by Laws, Governing Food Safety for Public Good”. The event mainly includes thematic activities held by these departments, Exhibition of Food and Drug Safety in Guangdong, the Fifth Online Knowledge Competition on Food Safety – “More Safety in Guangdong Food”, Food Safety on Campus, Food and Drug Safety Interviews – Lecture on Food and Drug Safety, Forum on Social Governance of Food Safety and experiential activities of “Food Safety Guards”. With these activities, the event will implement the requirements of “Four Strictest” (the most rigorous standards, the most stringent regulation, the most severe punishment and the most serious accountability) on food safety in all aspects, construct a strict and orderly social governance system on food safety that involve all stakeholders and constantly improve the food safety. The cities and counties (county-level cities, districts) in Guangdong will also hold a variety of promotional activities. 

As one of the important activities during the Awareness Week, the Exhibition of Food and Drug Safety of Guangdong was also launched at the same time in GDSC. The Exhibition is themed on “Personal Experience and Participation Make Safer Food and Drugs”, covering three topics of “Regulation, Popularization and Social Governance”. The contents contains three parts, i.e. scientific regulation, relevant science and future vision, focusing on five core areas, i.e. food, drug, health food, cosmetics and medical apparatus. With graphic panels, interactive games, physical display, AR projection, scientific experiments (rapid food detection) and on-site simulation, the Exhibition presents the achievements made in food and drug regulation and knowledge of food and drug safety, thus promote the scientific understanding, active participation and positive interactions of the media, society and the public on food and drug safety, and spread the positive concepts of “food and drug authorities protecting your food and drug safety in daily life”. The Exhibition in the green atrium of GDSC is open to the public for free from May 27 to June 20. 

GDSC, as an important large-scale public popularization venue and a S＆T culture exhibition and exchange base in Guangdong, provides packaged services for the Awareness Week. It provides a broad platform and creates a good atmosphere for the popularization of food and drug safety and the promotion of production, education and research achievements.
